Philodendron Majestic care guide

Philodendron Majestic care guide

If you ask me which hybrid is the best, this philodendron majestic (verrucosum and sodiroi) will be the first thing pop up in my mind. At the first look, she will look like a philodendron sodiroi with the leaf shape and silver markings. However, if you look closely, you will see the leaves has iridescent veins and of course the infamous red back which are the best traits of verrucosum. But that's not why majestic is my favorite hybrid. I've tried to figured out why this plant holds a special place in my heart but couldn't, up until now, the moment I write this post.

It's the velvetiness, guys! It makes all the difference in the world. You got the two sought after traits in plant community in one plant, silvery and velvety leaves. And when both of them combine, it's just magical.
I know, I am geeking out about plants but you can't blame me for that? I know you would do the same.

Okay now let's talk about its care:
1. Rate of growth: giving the right condition she is a fast grower. 1 new leaf every 2 weeks.
2. The easiness: Very easy to care for but she is hard to roots unlike other philodendrons. I guess this is one bad trait she got from her verrucosum side. If you want to propagate her I recommend use air layering method. Comment bellow if you want me to talk about this method in a future post.
3. Light: This is a tricky part. They say bright indirect light right? But if you giving too much bright light (even if it's indirect,) you will bleach the leaves and make it lost it's silver markings or even worse, sun spots. How do I know? Let's just say from a painful personal experience.
3. Water: rule of thumb, let the top two inches of the medium dry before water the plant. Majestic seems to be an forgiving plants but don't push her too fast, she still got her verrucosum's bad temperament.
4. Soil: you know the thrills, airy well draining mix. Check my IGTV if you want to make one good formula.
5. Fertilizer: twice a month in growing phase and once every 2-3 months in non growing phase.
6. Temperature: 65-75 Fahrenheit is the sweet spot
7. Air flow: I can't stress enough the importance of good air circulation for tropical plants. You need to nail it in order to prevent bacterial and fugal spots on the leaves.

8. Humidity: Preferably above 70 percent and they will grow faster in higher humidity but you can train your plants to stay in humidity around 55.

8. Tips: Majestic is one of the philodendrons that will increase its leaf size significantly when you put her on a pole. let her do the pole dance and flourish!

I hope this blog will encourage you to get one. They are quite pricey but trust me total worth every single dollar. Happy planting guys!
